THE BOTTOM LINE: JOYFUL NOISE

JOYFUL NOISE

STARRING:  Queen Latifah, Dolly Parton, Keke Palmer, Jeremy Jordan, Courtney B. Vance, Jesse L. Martin and Kris Kristofferson

DIRECTOR:  Todd Graff

GENRE:  Comedy

SYNOPSIS:  An out-of-touch gospel choir with a newly appointed director needs to sing a different tune if it wants to win a national singing competition.

RATING:  PG-13

RUNNING TIME:  117 Mins

THE GOOD:  This film hits all the right notes thanks to the smart pairing of Queen Latifah and Dolly Parton.  Not only will you feel the love, you will walk out of the theater knowing that “God doesn’t make mistakes” and “we all are one.”

Kudos to the “colorblind” casting; race is never an issue in this “perfect world” and it is refreshing to see what could be...

THE BAD:  Unfortunately, the script loses it way towards the end trying to cover too much ground; but it is forgivable thanks to all the toe-tapping and hand raising you will be doing.

THE UGLY:  You know how this story ends even before it begins.

MY SCORE:  ****

(4 OUT OF 5 STARS)
