[LISTEN] MONDAY MUSIC EARWORM WITH WORK DRUGS
Today's Monday Music Earworm artist goes to, Work Drugs. This Philadelphia based group fronted by Thomas Crystal and Benjamin Louisiana, noted on their Facebook page saying they make music "specifically for dancing, boating, yachting, sexting, and living." Any group or band lists those as their reasons for making music is more than alright in my book. Featured in last week's Hump Day Mix, the latest single "Boogie Lights" taken from their upcoming album Absolute Bearing dropping next month, has such a sweet-soft/chill-wave sound that it's been a great tune to wind down to from yet another crazy weekend. Work Drugs describes their music as "sedative-wave/smooth-fi" and by their list of interestes from surfing to yatching, it is apparently in their sound. The song is dedicated to one of their oldest friends, Anna LePierse, who left sailing college in the Keys (like that's a real school?) to pursue her dreams of "making" it in Hollywood. Apparently, years later she found her true calling...out in the valley. For those of you who may not be too familiar with the Los Angeles geography and its cultural significance, "the valley" is where pornos are made...like a lot. So if "Boogie Nights" I mean "Boogie Lights" is what I think they mean, then I love this song even more. Be sure to check it out and coast through your day with some of the other songs from Work Drugs below!
