Who Dat 2 Dat is a newly released Saints anthem created by a few of the many faithful members of Who Dat Nation.
It's inspired by the recent NFL lockout and mentions players including Drew Brees, Marques Colston, Lance Moore, Pierre Thomas, Tracey Porter and Jonathan Vilma (aka Area 51).
'Get your ass to the dome and bring a Boudreaux because the black and gold will be ready to geaux' is one of the catchy phrases in this new single available now on iTunes.
We know that sometimes rap songs can be confusing. Sometimes rap songs about football can be even more confusing to the average girl or gay who doesn't live for the NFL.
Below are the lyrics and some explanation behind the new single Who Dat 2 Dat. It was written and recorded right as the lockout was ending by two Saints fans with too much time and not enough football.
So sit back, sip some Moscato and enjoy Who Dat Two Dat.
LYRICS
Who Dat Two Dat Saints till we die
Light up the scoreboard let the pigskin fly
Who Dat Two Dat Let’s Drew this thing
And cheer them boys to a Superbowl ring
(Who Dat is the Saints chant and two dat refers to the next Superbowl the Saints will win. Drew Brees is the QB. And pigskin refers to the actual football--but if that has to be explained maybe stop reading now?)
A new labor deal means it’s time to play
And all that lockout chatter can go away
Those of is in the Who Dat Krewe
Want to see the ball in the hands of Drew
(NFL Lockout if over and the teams are officially starting practice. Pre-season games will begin in a few weeks. Krewes are groups that put on parades and/or galas during Mardi Gras and they are usually full of fun people.)
We've got Colston,Thomas and a Lil Moore
Plus Area 51 and the D can score
Who can forget that pick six by Tracey Porter
AKA Peyton Manning's worst quarter
(Colston, Thomas and Moore are key offensive players. Jonathan Vilma aka Area 51 is a defensive leader and co-captain. Tracey Porter intercepted a pass from Peyton Manning in Superbowl XLIV and ran it back for a touchdown in the 4th quarter. Best. Day. Ever.)
Get your ass to the dome and bring your Boudreaux
Cuz the black and gold will be ready to Geaux
Get your drink on Stand Up Get Crunk
And shake off the stank of the lockout funk
(Louisiana is full of Boudreauxs and most everyone is related to one. Some of them are swamp people and lots of them are not. Stand up and Get Crunk is how Saints fans celebrate touchdowns. See song by Ying Yang Twins.)
Nothing but faith in our number nine
Moving them chains further down the line
Working the clock and making it known
Saints don’t stop until the end zone
(Drew Brees' jersey is number nine and Saints fans have so much faith they pretty much expect a touchdown on every possession.)
We be marching down Poydras with drinks in hand
And knowing Bourbon St. is the post game plan
Home sweet dome is the spot to be
All the krewes wearing their fleur de lis
(The Superdome is on Poydras St. and the party never really stops in New Orleans. Fleur de lis' are the signature of New Orleans and the team logo.)
Monday is up next and you know what that means
Sold out Times-Picayune and some rice and red beans
Carolina Tampa and the Dirty Birds
Don’t like to play when they hear these words
(After big wins the local paper is often sold out on Monday morning. Some southerners ritually eat red beans and rice on Mondays and the other three teams in our NFC South division are Carolina, Tampa Bay and the Atlanta Falcons-which fans often refer to as Dirty Birds. It doesn't necessarily mean they are actually dirty.)
