Even with our super tight Summer TV schedule, we were really excited to squeeze in a new show on ABC Family called Bunheads! From Executive Producer Amy Sherman-Palladino, the creator of Gilmore Girls, the series is headlined by Tony Award®-winning actor Sutton Foster and features Kelly Bishop.   Bunheads is the tale of a Las Vegas showgirl, who impulsively marries a man, moves to his sleepy coastal town, and takes an uneasy role at her new mother-in-law's dance school. The writing is full of quick quips, snarky remarks and hilarious pop culture references that will make any Gilmore Girls fan a fan of this show. In fact, there was even a shot of what looked like Lorelai's jeep in one of the scenes. It was kind of like a bid adieu from Gilmore Girls and hello to Bunheads. The show shares a lot of similarities including a mother/daughter(in-law) relationship to a big personality living in a small sleepy town to delightful quirky characters. I think it's a smart way of pulling in familiar fans in the first episode. Bunheads has the ballet legs potential to stand on its own. I'm happy we get to see familiar faces like Kelly Bishop and Rose Abdoo again. Be sure to DVR Bunheads on ABC Family 9/8C! You can catch the first episode right here.
